Thankful

We had two really special days with Kaitlyn and Daniel this week. Here are 3 cute pictures of them- Kaitlyn making peanut butter playdough and then two pictures of the kids wearing pirate blow-up hats while playing in the "pirate pool" at our neighbor's house. They are such happy children who love life so thoroughly. Kaitlyn at one point was telling me in her 4 year old language, "I'm fankful for..." She encouraged me with her thankful attitude! Thanks for allowing us to play with your precious kids Amy and Ben!

  1. They had such a great time at your house. Thank you so much for loving on them those two days while I wasn't feeling that well. You are the best!

  2. Hi Amy,
You don't know me but my name is Mark Heller. I'm a friend and employee of Jason Hondru's. He told me to check your blog out, he follows my carepage at wellspan.org which is a combination diary, theurapeutic sounding board, theology discussion and my health news for friends and family I have going daily since Nov. 2008 after they told me I was going to die. Well I didn't die.
I too have Diffused large B cell Non Hodgkins Lymphoma stage 4 aggressive since April 12, 2007. I've had several surgeries, 17 chemo cycles, of 5 different chemos, 19 radiation treatments, remission, a severe and sudden relapse causing all kinds of health problems,
given up on in York and Hershey Medical Center exept for my personal oncologist who would not give up fighting for me and got me to John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore for a mini haplo mismatched bone marrow transplant using my only living brother as a donor. My very last resort. I have a long long way to go to claim victory but right now I'm Day+62 post transplant and have been a text book case.
My brothers DNA has grafted to mine and is taking over my immune system which in theory will see my cancer as a virus and kill it.
I was just this week declared again cancer free.
My life is much different than yours, my kids are all grown, I was 54
when diagnosed am now 56 and have been fighting for over 2 1/2 years.
I live with my wife Dixie who has been my constant caretaker.
However if you have any questions or just need to vent to someone who's been there done that probably more than once. I'm at dixieszoo@comcast.net or check out my carepage at wellspan.org go to visit care page. keep following instructions till you can type Heller and you'll see MarkHeller.
I will pray for you, through my journey I have become a total believer in prayer, the strength of love and (small) miracles.
God bless you and good fortune,
    Mark Heller
